Shitala Ghat Varanasi




























This ghat was made by Bajirao Pesava-1 in 1740 pt. That is the southern extension of Dasasvamedha Ghat, where exists Dasasvamedha Tirtha and snapshots of Dasasvamedhesvara and Dasaharesvara. After the well-known Sitala temple there, this ghat is understood as after. On the eighth mild- half lunar months of Caitra, Vaisakha Jyestha and Asadha and Asvina people celebrate at the festival of Sitala Asthami.
19th century AD, Shitala Ghat was a part of Dashashwamedh Ghat of Varanasi. Later Shitala Mata Temple was built thereon and this a part of erstwhile Dashashwamedh Ghat had been termed as Shitala Ghat, a replacement ghat. This Ghat was redevloped by Maharaja of Bundi.
